Crystal Jankiewicz, also known as Smushbox has been working professionally from her home studio in Hamtramck for the last 14 years and drawing her entire life. Inspired by video games, cartoons and the occult her subject matter is generally very female centric. She uses the female form, anthropomorphic characters and unexpected color pallets to transform macabre subject matters into something more approachable.
     Over the last 12 years she has attended many comic and horror conventions and her work has been included in over 30 juried gallery shows and 2 solo exhibitions, most notably Detroit’s Dirty Show since 2014, Surreal Salon 9 at Baton Rouge Gallery, and the Power in Numbers show at Gallery Nucleus.
